Organizational Description: Altered Minds Inc. provides programs and services for immigrants and refugees in Winnipeg. Most people know us as the 'Entry Program', which is the name of our orientation and language program for adult newcomers. We also offer pre-arrival employment services to immigrants destined to Manitoba.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: We need help with maintenance and repairing sewing machines used in our newcomer languages and employment skills program. The machines are new or newer, but still glitch sometimes.
Skills Required: Some knowledge and experience with sewing machines maintenance and repair (Baby Lock and Singer)
Skills Gained/Related Careers:
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
The sewing classes are in the mornings. The maintenance and repair can be done at any time when help is available. The machines are newer and generally work very well. We need occasional help with some of them.
