Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: We are seeking Board members to be part of the dynamic team at Alpha House. Alpha House is a second stage program for women and children leaving an abusive relationship. Alpha House is a non-profit,charitable organization.
Some of the duties include:
-attendance and commitment to monthly Board meetings
-fundraising - willingness to assist with the coordination of one or two large fundraising events for the organization per year collaboratively as a board member
-willingness to assist or take on projects to help Alpha House
-a commitment to working as part of a team
Skills Required: We are looking for volunteers in the following areas:
1. Event Management/Fundraising: Desire to support and provide knowledge and experience to a non profit through support of your fundraising and event planning experience.
2.Graphic Design/Communications/Social Media: Desire to support and provide knowledge and experience through support of your communications, design, media skills and experience
3. Facilities Management/Property Development: Willingness to provide general council with respect to maintenance, building rehabilitation, general building growth, collaboratively as a board member.
4.Social/Community Advisor: Desire to support and provide knowledge through support of your experiences as a community member, leader, teacher or elder. Indigenous/International women & children experience desired.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: We are seeking individuals with a background in Event/Management, Graphic Design/Communications/Social Media and Facilities Management/Property Development and Social/Community Advisor/Knowledge Keeper.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening
The Board meets monthly. Additional hours required for projects and fundraising events. Approx 6-8 hours commitment monthly.
