Organizational Description: The Winnipeg chapter of Dying with Dignity Canada is dedicated to educating people on patient rights, advocating on members' behalf when their wishes are not being respected, and fighting for the rights of all Canadians to have a dignified end to life, no matter how they define it.

The majority of our work as a chapter involves helping people understand patient rights and the legal and practical aspects of advance care planning and their Health Care Directive. We also talk to people about their end of life wishes: the practical, emotional, and social implications of preparing for the last chapter of life.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Our Volunteer coordinator will be responsible for recruiting volunteers for various opportunities;keeping a database of volunteer information and skills.
Recruit suitable volunteers by networking, advertising in professional agencies, social media, local media, community meetings etc.
Supervise our volunteers; organize and assist with training, in conjunction with the appropriate team leader
Collect volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintain an up-to-date database
Work closely with the Events and Workshop Coordinator to ensure there are enough volunteers to cover all shifts at events and workshops
Skills Required: Good working knowledge & skills for computers - use Excel as a database, online communications such as email and Zoom.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good organization and team building skills.
Experience in volunteering and recruitment would be an asset.

Time Commitment: Daytime, Weekend
Our volunteer workshop presenters and assistants provide workshops on a regular basis throughout the city. Workshops occur during the day, a few evenings and weekends. The volunteer coordinator would assist in training and support mostly during regular working hours 9 - 5 pm. Some weekend training sessions will be necessary. Much of the commitment would be 'on your own time' or as required by the nature of the position.
