Organizational Description: The primary objective of the BSRC is to increase wellness of the 55+ population by providing information, education, and referral services. Services such as these will support the individual needs of each person, which may include emotional, spiritual, social and/or practical support. These services will enable persons aged 55+ to remain in independent living situations for as long as possible.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Provide a weekly call to older adults on the program list to check in and provide a friendly visit over the phone. Maintain records on when best to reach each older adult on the list, and length of calls. Report any concerns about how an older adult is doing to the Seniors Resource Coordinator, as well as monthly statistics.
Skills Required: Excellent communication skills. Ability to use a telephone. Organization skills. Friendly, and outgoing. Ability to speak and be understood in English clearly.

Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
Flexible. Whatever time works best for the volunteer and client to connect. The position requires no more than 10 hours per week. The volunteer would need to connect when it makes sense for each client. The length of the call will vary depending on the time the client has, and how the conversation is going. Each call should go no longer than half an hour.
