Description of Duties:

The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) is the professional regulatory body for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in Manitoba. The CLPNM is seeking public representatives for appointment to its Board of Directors and/or committees.

Public representatives:
-contribute to public protection
-support quality nursing care
-serve Manitobans by helping to regulate one of its largest health professions.

-Commitment to participating in orientation and on-going education regarding regulation and governance
-Commitment to preparing for and attending meetings as per the pre-determined schedule
-Open-mindedness
-Commitment to uphold the concept of the board/committee "speaking with one voice" once decisions are made
-Must not have a conflict of interest with the mandate of the CLPNM
-Willingness to serve a term of at least 2 years, beginning in June 2024

Basic computer proficiency is required, as is reliable and secure internet connectivity if the applicant plans to participate in meetings online.

Experience in law, investigations, regulation, and/or board governance is an asset but not necessary.

No nursing experience is required.

Per the CLPNM By-Laws, the following individuals are ineligible for these positions due to the potential for conflict of interest:
i. employees of the CLPNM;
ii. individuals with any union affiliation, other than that required for employment;
iii. individuals who are board members, committee members, or employed by a profesisonal nursing association;
iv. individuals who hold employment positions as managers of LPNs and who are responsible for employee hiring, evaluations, discipline or terminations;
v. individuals who are current members of a regulated health profession; or
vi. individuals who have been convicted of an indictable offence.

To help the Board and its committees better reflect the population they serve, individuals of Indigenous ancestry are encouraged to apply.

Meetings are held primarily online. The occasional in-person meeting in Winnipeg may be required.
