Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) is seeking public representatives for appointment to its Board of Directors and/or committees.

Public representatives:
-contribute to public protection
-support quality nursing care
-serve Manitobans by helping to regulate one of its largest health professions.
Skills Required: Desired
-Willingness to uphold the public interest duty of the CLPNM
-Understanding of the principles of regulation in the public interest and ability to make decisions in the public interest
-High standards of ethics and integrity
-Strong interpersonal communication
-Critical thinking skills
-Commitment to participating in orientation and on-going education regarding regulation and governance
-Commitment to preparing for and attending meetings as per the pre-determined schedule
-Open-mindedness
-Commitment to uphold the concept of the board/committee "speaking with one voice" once decisions are made
-Must not have a conflict of interest with the mandate of the CLPNM
-Willingness to serve a term of at least 2 years, beginning in June 2020

Basic computer proficiency required. An understanding of financial statements, legislation, policy, law enforcement, investigations, regulation, and/or board governance preferred but not necessary.

No nursing experience required.
