Organizational Description: Urban Stable provides Equine Facilitated Learning Programs to youth in grades 5-12 through 4 unique programs. Equine Facilitated Learning is an experiential learning approach that promotes the development of life skills for educational, professional and personal goals through equine activities.

Urban Stable is an accredited Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA) centre and follows the high standards and safety guidelines provided by them.

Our Mission: To provide an educational horseback riding program together with public schools that empowers students to stay connected with their education.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: We are looking for 2-3 people to join our board of directors who are ready to use their skills and efforts to help grow and sustain our unique equine programs.

You will alongside our dynamic board attending monthly board meetings and committee meetings depending on the need of the tasks of the board.
You will help to plan for the growth and sustainability of the charity, be an ambassador for Urban Stable and attend fund-raising events.
Skills Required: We are looking for a treasurer right now so Accounting/ Financial Management/ Business skills would be required.

We are looking for 2-3 people to join our board of directors with expertise and experience in ONE or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising/ Marketing
- Accounting/ Financial Management/ Business skills
- Education/ Social Work/ Psychology
-Equine Assisted Learning/Therapy

Other skills required:
-Available evenings
- Board members are elected for a two-year team (with opportunity to renew for an additional term)
- Previous board experience desired but not necessary. No horse experience needed.

Time Commitment: Evening
- 4-6 hours/month (start date September 2020 or sooner as available) -Meeting are usually in the evenings. Meetings last about 3hours and we meet once a month or more depending on special events happening. -We meet September to May -Board members are elected for a two-year team (with opportunity to renew for an additional term)
