Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Work with the Board to promote and raise awareness of SHADE's work in the community and to promote both programming and fundraising campaigns.

SHADE (Safe Housing And Directed Empowerment) is a registered charity in Winnipeg, Manitoba with the goal of providing second stage housing and supports for immigrant and refugee women and their children who have been impacted by domestic abuse / family violence. As part of early operational development, SHADE has decided to increase its outreach online and engage in community programming and fundraising.

The overall objective of this assignment is to develop and manage communications material (Press Releases, Newsletter, and Promotional Material for Programming and Fundraising.
Scope of work:
The volunteer will work to achieve the following tasks:
- Designing Promotional Materials for Programming and Fundraising (May 23, 2020 = Capital Fundraiser)
a. For social media posts
b. For print (flyers, brochures, posters)
- Newsletters
a. Create newsletter sign-up option on website (with support from Board Members)
b. Write and Disseminate Quarterly Newsletter via email to newsletter email list
- Create and Disseminate Press Releases in coordination with Digital Content team
a. Various formats (as needed)
Skills Required: - Marketing
- Graphic Artist/Bachelor of Fine Arts
- Understanding working with community non-profits
- Demonstrable performance (references required)
Skills Gained/Related Careers: - Excellent communications (visual, written, oral)
- Marketing for a charitable non-profit
- Graphic artist design experience, including digital
- Videography (desired)
- Time management
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
Scheduling is flexible to fit our and your schedules with time to meet deadlines. To start as soon as possible; minimum 6 months, preferably 1 year.
