Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Over 8000 Manitoba soldiers who fell in service have been identified by our charity and placed IN MEMORIAM on our website. Many are listed in name only and require further research to share and preserve their individual story. We hope to shed light on the person that was the soldier, their pre-enlistment lives, education, hobbies and interests, communities they called home, parents, siblings, children etc... Most of this information can be garnered searching popular and lesser known websites. It is critical to our mandate that soldiers are well researched so we might do them justice when compiling the finished biography.
Skills Required: Passion. We can help develop all other skills required so volunteers can contribute according to their skill set but it is only with passion these stories can be told. We owe it to them and the family they left mourning what have been. There is a special satisfaction when you start with a name and end with a story. Some biographies will also be part of the annual "Picture them at Polo Park" memorial display held in November.
