Organizational Description: The Refuge is a collection of programs that respond to the needs of women in the Elmwood Community. It is a mentor based program that provides support groups based on different circumstances and needs. We offer general support to moms, and specific group supports to women dealing with domestic violence and addiction issues.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Refuge is a small group support network dedicated to helping mothers connect and grow in the Elmwood Community. Each week The Refuge provides a space for local moms to come, be in community, build friendships, be mentored, and to have a place where they can come and belong.

As part of the program, we provide child care for all of the kids who come with their mom to the program so that they can attend the program distraction free, which is a large amount of volunteers, and we are looking to grow our childcare team! The Refuge provides an awesome environment for student volunteers through a weekly or bi-weekly commitment to watching kids, providing a safe space, being a good influence, keeping kids safe, and managing group games! Each Tuesday night the program runs and we require our volunteers to be there from 6:15pm to 8:15pm.
