Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Fundraising Team implements fundraising strategies and actions to be taken in preparation for Volunteer Manitoba's Annual Volunteer Awards Dinner. Members will be addressing multiple sources of funding in support of the event.

Specific duties consist of:
- Providing information and incentives to potential sponsors
- Recruiting new and past sponsors
- Reporting to Volunteer Manitoba staff members on assigned tasks regularly, or in a timely or agreed to manner.

There is potential for responsibilities to be expanded beyond specific duties, including:
- Recruiting participants, or volunteers for fundraising events.
- Contacting corporate representatives, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of organizational causes, activities, or needs.
- Securing commitments of participation or donations from individuals or corporate donors
- Take on and fulfill specific tasks related to the planning and execution of activities and reaching goals set and agreed to by the committee
- Attend meetings as required, no less than once every quarter, and more frequently as required by the committee or task workload.
- Contribute to decision making in all areas of activity of the committee and provide creative and respectful input to deliberations of the committee
- Create and/or update donor databases

Team members will report to Volunteer Manitoba staff. There is office space for members to work at Volunteer Manitoba's main office, but members are also permitted to work off-site. Policies and procedures will be discussed during the on-boarding process.
Skills Required: - Sincere interest and/or related experience with fundraising
- Transferable skills in one or more areas of fundraising, marketing, communications, public relations, promotion, stakeholder relations, volunteer supervision, etc.
- Personal attributes of benefit to the Committee (e.g. active contributor, responsible, team player, problem solver, creative thinker, organized etc.)
- Time and energy to contribute as a member of the Fundraising Committee and complete related tasks, events and activities.
- Personal commitment to productive participation
- Knowledge or interest in Volunteer Manitoba's mandate and the importance of volunteer recognition

Other Details:
- Participate on a team of up to 5 people
- Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships.
- Be continually aware of actions which could impact on the reputation of the organization or the outcomes of the committee's work.
- Prepare materials for charitable events, such as fundraising envelopes, bid sheets, or gift bags.
- Ensure that comprehensive records are shared with team members to assist in reaching goals and to inform subsequent work.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Fundraising Team Members will each receive a ticket to the Annual Awards Dinner on April 9, 2020.
This volunteer position will provide opportunities to network and build connection, build negotiation and partnership skills, and give back to the community through volunteer service.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
The Fundraising Team Member will be required to complete approximately 40 hours between September 1st and April 30th The awards dinner is on April 9, 2020. Team members are encouraged to attend the event as a thank-you for services provided. All sponsorship/fundraising must be completed on or before March 31, 2020.
