HIARC relies on the hard work and compassion of volunteers to assist in the care. We call them volunteers, but to the animals, they are heroes. We work hand in hand with Manitoba communities, local organizations, Province and municipal government, animal control and the general public to improve animal welfare in Canada.

Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: We are looking for people with a love for animals, who are compassionate and honest, to join us in our cause to help place neglected and homeless animals into loving, forever homes.

Homeless and Injured Animal Rescue of Canada, Inc. aka HIARC is a non-profit charitable organization that are dedicated to taking those animals in our community by providing temporary shelter, vetting and find their appropriate new families for the injured, abused, neglected, homeless, senior, surrendered and or forgotten and giving them a better life. We are a NO-KILL animal rescue.

Transport is a critical volunteer role. We have to move animals and supplies around Manitoba. Our transport volunteers donate their time and use of their personal vehicle to make sure our animals have rides to their foster homes, plus food and toys when they arrive.

Homeless and Injured Animal Rescue of Canada, Inc.'s Volunteer Department is looking for four volunteers to assist our Animal Transport team with delivering or picking up animals, supplies to partner locations throughout Manitoba and foster homes.

Tasks may include:
* Bring animal to the veterinarian
* Loading animal carriers (with cats and small animals) into the transport van;
* Assisting with packaging and labeling delivery supplies;
* Unloading animal carriers and supplies into stores and/or foster home;
* Unloading empty carriers at storage;
* Delivering/picking up animals;
* Delivering/picking up supplies such as kibbles, canned food, crates, etc.
Skills Required: Volunteers must have...

* Compassion for Animals
* a valid Manitoba driver's licence with a clean driving record;
* experience working with and handling dogs and cats;
* able to lift and carry a weight of 20lbs (cats in carriers, kibbles, etc..);
* be comfortable taking direction from HIARC staff;
* be consistent, honest and reliable;
* be Motivated and respectful
