Organizational Description: LITE's mission is to promote Community Economic Development (CED) by supporting inner city programs in Winnipeg that provide jobs and training opportunities to the chronically underemployed. We do this by providing grants to partner organizations running these specific programs and by making strategic purchases to support the inner-city economy and employment. LITE directs donations to support jobs, and more importantly, to help people who want to overcome the challenges they face. Our name says it all: We invest locally toward employment.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Assist LITE staff with administrative tasks including: office reception, filing documents, photocopying, checking mail, data entry, envelope stuffing and other tasks as assigned during our busy fundraising season. Other tasks can include: making outgoing calls to explain our program, gage interest and gather information for call back from Coordinator.
Skills Required: Detail oriented and organized, good interpersonal skills
Experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel) an asset
Career interest in administration or fundraising

Gain professional office and non-profit sector experience to add to your résumé. Volunteers who successfully complete a minimum of 20 volunteer hours with LITE are eligible for a written reference. North End residents encouraged to apply.

Time Commitment: Daytime
3 hours per week, office hours are 9-3 pm M-F. LOCATION: Except for special events, all volunteer roles take place at LITE's office in Winnipeg's Social Enterprise Centre, Unit 203-765 Main Street. Accessible by bus with parking on surrounding streets. ORIENTATION: All office-based volunteers must attend an orientation session. Dates for orientation: October.8, October.22,November.5,November.22 TRAINING: Training materials and one-on-one mentorship is provided.
