Description of Duties: Reliably and punctuality
Road awareness and experience with the city layout to safely transport youth to and from sports activities
Communication with participants and families to ensure schedules are met
Ensuring all activities are conducted in a safe, fun, and inclusive manner
Skills Required: Current Child Abuse Registry Check
Class 4 Drivers License
Provide Drivers Abstract
Friendly, welcoming, respectful with a positive attitude
Knowledge/Familiarity of the neighbourhood is an asset but not required
Knowledge and/or experience working with marginalized populations is an asset
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Volunteers will gain valuable experience working with diverse, at-risk youth. Volunteers who demonstrate dedication, reliability and leadership skills may, upon request, receive character references from the Sports Program Coordinator for commitments lasting longer than 3 months. Volunteers will also have access to scheduled training opportunities. In addition, volunteers have the opportunity to take paid casual work as van drivers for the basketball program if they possess a Class 4 Licence.
Age: 17 and under
Time Commitment: Evening, Weekend
Seeking drivers to commit to approximately 3 hours/evening for 1-4 days during the week and between 3 and 8 hours on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
