Organizational Description: Ai-Kon is a registered non-profit organization that hosts Manitoba's premier and largest anime convention. It is also one of the largest conventions of its kind in Western Canada.

Our main event entails a three day celebration of video gaming, animation, and Japanese culture held annually at the Winnipeg RBC Convention Centre. We also hold a 1 day convention in February, Winterfest, with all the excitement and main events into 12 hours.

The convention is a family friendly event suitable to all ages.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Create and monitor accessibility page on website similar to https://otafest.com/about/accessibility/
Coordinates activities with St Johns Ambulance at the convention
Including booking and arranging volunteers on site and ensure donation after event
Work with various non-profit organization and community children's agency to supply a limited amount of complimentary tickets and act as point of contact.
Works with the venue liaison to advocate for accessibility of all who attend Ai-Kon
Responsible for health room promotion, accessibility signage, supplies, health room layout
Ensures staff and volunteers are informed about the various resources on hand at the convention
Review Ai-Kon process and makes suggestions to increase safety for all who attend Ai-Kon events
Address staff and volunteers issues of health on site (e.g. exhaustion) and relays this information to officers/directors
Ensure safety procedures are followed by volunteers, and safety areas of concern at the convention are actively monitor.
Post convention relays any safety concerns that can be addressed for the next event.
Skills Required: Preference given to individuals with a background in healthcare or work experience with accessibility legislation
Strong writing skills are a requirement.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Building portfolio experience in corporate relations, marketing, and customer service.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening, Weekend
