Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: As a committee member for the Capes & Crowns event, you will work with the event co-chairs and other committee members to help in one or some of the following areas: organize, promote/market the event, secure prizing for raffle baskets, help to sell tickets and help with event day activities. Meetings are held once a month in person or by phone until the event day (tent. scheduled for Saturday, Jan 25).
Skills Required: Because the event focuses on children under the age of about 10, an interest in children's crafts and being part of a team creating a special day is essential. Committee members are tasked with helping to sell tickets to the event - a social circle that includes families with younger children is a good fit. Ability to work independently and complete a 'to do' list, as well as contribute collaboratively as a team member. Social media or marketing skills to help promote the event are desired.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Fundraising (seeking prize donors, event sponsorship); working collaboratively with a committee; meeting new people, event management, budgeting, event logistics, marketing, PR, as well as learning about the charitable sector and specifically the cystic fibrosis and Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
A couple hours a week/or 3-4 hours spread over a month. More hours (likely weekly meetings the last month, and a few more hours the final week of event.
