Description of Duties: Do you love being engaged in your community?

The Canadian Cancer Society is seeking Community Ambassador(s) to increase awareness of support programs and services within your community.

-Work in co-operation with the Society's Community Engagement staff and volunteers to integrate our mission into local Society community events, such as wellness initiatives, along with networking and engaging in your community by sharing and distributing of Society materials.
-Actively seek out an maintain relationships with individuals, groups, businesses and health care professionals in your community
-Network to facilitate information sharing and distribution of Society materials
-Work in co-operation with the Society's Community Engagement staff and volunteers to integrate our mission into local Society community events
-Attend health and wellness fairs/shows at various business and community organizations representing the Canadian Cancer Society as a volunteer, coordinating the pickup/drop off of supplies, setting up the table display and manning the table for the time period of the show
-Maintain regular contact with your Canadian Cancer Society staff partner and provide updates on all relevant activities
-Attend strategic community events and meetings as a Canadian Cancer Society representative
Skills Required: - Ability and desire to take a leadership role
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including community members and agencies
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Public speaking skills

We provide orientation and Society staff support, ongoing education about cancer prevention, advocacy and current cancer support programs available.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
Flexible scheduling which includes weekdays with majority of time during business hours, occasional evenings and weekends are required for this long term (minimum 1 yr) adult (18yrs/over) volunteer commitment.
