Organizational Description: Winnipeg Optimist Athletics (WOA) is a track and field club for all ages seeking sport enthusiasts interested in coaching our young athletes to develop the skills of running, jumping and throwing.

WOA is a track and field leader in our Province and will provide the training and support to become involved in coaching and or in management roles with our sport.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: - Sport enthusiasts interested in working with young athletes to develop the skills of running, jumping and throwing.
- As a volunteer, you would work with young athletes starting from the entry level right up to the National Team.
Skills Required: - Able to work in team setting, as well as one-on-one with athletes.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Have some knowledge and interest in track & field, and in coaching the sport.
- Training and supervision will be provided, as required.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: - Network and meet new people
- Leadership and organizational skills.
- Coaching experience for future sports-related opportunities.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening, Weekend
- Training takes place during the Athletics Manitoba Exclusive Use time slot (approx 5:00 - 7:00pm), usually 2-3 evenings per week (different groups train on different days). - Indoor training (Oct-Apr) takes place at James Daly Fieldhouse in Max Bell Centre at University of Manitoba. - Outdoor training (May-Sept) is held at University Stadium at UofM.
