Description of Duties: At the Canadian Cancer Society, we offer you a place where you can use your talents to make a difference - a place where you can support cancer patients through their journey. We are looking for a Front Desk and Wig Bank Volunteer to come into our office and join us in the fight!

The Front Desk and Wig Bank position is generally the public's first point of contact with the Canadian Cancer Society, whether by telephone, general e-mail inquiry or personal office visit. The volunteer creates a warm and professional reception service and provides friendly, timely and compassionate customer service as they assist clients with the wig bank program.

%u2022 Greet and direct all visitors to appropriate staff person or meeting room
%u2022 Answer telephone calls, provide information and redirect as necessary using switchboard
%u2022 Provide general information to clients, donors and the public
%u2022 Manage visitor process including visitor notification and sign in
%u2022 Assist with basic paperwork processing (folding mailouts, filing, etc.)
%u2022 Keep the main lobby area and wig bank room tidy and in order
%u2022 Assist cancer patients with wig and headwear selection, provide advice regarding styling and care
%u2022 Advise clients of the wig bank return and exchange policies, collect any required client information
%u2022 Maintain appointment records in client service database
%u2022 Adhere to all Canadian Cancer Society policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
Skills Required: - Comfortable on the telephone and switchboard
- Pleasant telephone manner and etiquette
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills, compassionate, active listening skills
- Customer service skills
- Basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as data entry
- Ability to identify and respect boundaries
- Hairstyling experience is an asset

We are looking for people who can come in 3-4 hours per week, around midday, with a minimum 6 month commitment.
