Organizational Description: The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of Manitoba (APEGM) was established on March 27, 1920 by The Engineering and Geoscientific Professions Act to regulate the profession of engineering in Manitoba. In 1998 the Manitoba Legislature expanded the association's mandate to regulate professional geoscientists in Manitoba.
The purposes of the association are to:Govern and regulate the practice of professional engineering and professional geoscience in Manitoba
Promote and increase, by all lawful means and in the public interest, the knowledge, skill, and competency of its members and students in all things relating to the professions of engineering and geoscience
Advocate where the public interest is at risk
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Investigation Committee reviews complaints made about the conduct of members in a timely manner and makes recommendation for discipline based on the severity of the offense. The
Investigation Committee is considered a committee of Council and is made up of registered professionals from all engineering and geoscience disciplines.
Skills Required: - Some knowledge of the judicial process
- Have knowledge of The Engineering and Geoscientific Professions Act and Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba By-Laws
- Be available for meetings
- Provide input to the committee

Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening
The committee meets monthly, with meeting times set by the committee chair. Additional time will also be needed by committee members to review files prior to meetings. Subcommittees may also be formed, which may require additional meetings
