Organizational Description: Youville Centre is a non-profit community health centre in St. Vital. We offer front-line health care with a walk-in clinic staffed by nurses, and a weekly Teen Clinic for youth ages 14 - 21. Education & support programs target new & young parents, families, and people living with diabetes, heart disease and related chronic conditions. We are staffed with nurses, a dietitian, a counselor, and outreach & community development workers. Volunteers help us extend and enhance our services to the community.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Board has the responsibility to:
- Oversee all responsibilities delegated to the Board Chair and Executive Director (ED) and approved Board Committees as reflected in the Committees' Terms of Reference;
- Oversee the financial strength of Youville Centre and ensure the integrity of financial and operational reporting;
The Youville Centre Board and all its Committees will strive to uphold a culture of compassion and hope which is the legacy of its founding members, the Grey Nuns.

- Oversee the mitigation of strategic risks and direct the ED to identify the principal risks of the organization and take all reasonable steps to ensure the implementation of appropriate systems and controls to manage these risks;
- Ensure all Youville Centre policies and processes promote and support quality of services;
- Monitor effectiveness of major programs and take appropriate action to support excellence;
- Ensure ethical issues are addressed at the organizational level, including accessing the ethics service of St. Boniface Hospital;
- Ensure the Board receives regular updates (at least annually) on the status of client satisfaction;
- Ensure that the organization's language mandate to provide bilingual services is maintained;
- Board meets: 2nd Tuesday of the month (no meetings in July &
August); other committees: every other month

Skills Required: - Board experience not required.
- Various skill-sets such as Finance or HR would be an asset.
- St. Vital and/or St. Boniface community members welcome
