Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The YWCA Brandon Board is a governance board supporting the operations of the Y, providing financial oversight, supporting the fundraising activities, monitoring and strengthening programs, ensuring policies and procedures are consistently maintained and up to date. Board members are expected to attend regular Board meetings participating in discussions and decision-making, and participate in committees and special events.
Skills Required: An interest in improving the lives of women and providing a positive contribution to the community. Past Board experience is an advantage but not necessary. New Board members are mentored by a senior Board member.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Knowledge of Board governance, the ability to work collaboratively with other Board members.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening
Ten monthly meetings lasting approx. 2 hours, occasional committee meetings and support to, and attendance at, special events.
