Volunteer Opportunity Details | |
Description of Duties: | Objective: Provide community-based support; drive clients, staff and/or volunteers who are blind or partially sighted and are travelling on CNIB business. Responsibilities & Tasks: Receive booking or schedule from supervisor Drive staff person, volunteer or client to destination(s); provide sighted guide and sighted assistance as needed Track and report mileage as directed Track and report volunteer hours as directed Boundaries: Do not conduct client, volunteer or staff person's personal errands while on CNIB business. Commitment: Minimum six months Flexible hours, scheduled hours vary but could include evenings and weekends as scheduled with staff Agree to abide by CNIB's Volunteer Code of Conduct, including policies and procedures concerning confidentiality, conflict of interest, and the prevention of workplace harassment and violence. |
Skills Required: | Must have own reliable vehicle, in good working condition Excellent driving skills; clean driving record, valid driver's license, minimum $2 million liability insurance Patient, empathetic and friendly Reliable and organized Orientation provided, including: About CNIB, About the people we help, About sight loss, and About volunteering at CNIB Training specific to the position If younger than 25 special permission must be obtained by Executive Director |
