We are a not-for-profit organization that offers a wide range of programs and services to support individuals and their families.

St.Amant programs include a large residence for complex-care, more than 50 community sites and homes, the St.Amant Research Centre, the St.Amant School and River Road Child Care, a community child-care centre. We offer effective programs for children with autism and also for families who care for an individual with a developmental disability at home.

We strive to enhance the quality of life and self-determination for the thousands of individuals and families we serve each year. We are also a member of the Catholic Health Network.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Leading up to and throughout the 2020 provincial election campaign, the Communications Assistant will support the Disability Matters Vote (DMV) 2020 steering committee and play a vital role in engaging the disabilities sector in a public-facing campaign focused on advancing political advocacy priorities.

The DMV campaign seeks to engage two students to help execute communication projects with supervision as a member of a team; generally working remotely. Some meetings may be required.

Abilities Manitoba is the leading force in the DMV campaign. It represents dozens of agencies in Manitoba and exists to foster excellence in services for people with intellectual disabilities. The campaign steering committee includes communications staff with St.Amant, a non-profit health and social service organization dedicated to meeting the needs of persons with developmental disabilities, autism, and acquired brain injuries.
Skills Required: Position Requirements:
- A commitment to demonstrating values of collaboration, hospitality, excellence and respect
- A desire to gain experience working with in the disabilities sector
- Clear, accurate and persuasive writing skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Experience with video production and post-production (shooting, editing, adding open captioning)
- Social media engagement experience
- Familiarity with Mail Chimp email marketing and WordPress websites an asset
- Familiarity with accessibility standards an asset
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Preferred Education:
Creative Communications, Video Production, Graphic Design or Communications degree
