Organizational Description: Ai-Kon is a registered non-profit organization that hosts Manitoba's premier and largest anime convention. It is also one of the largest conventions of its kind in Western Canada.

Our main event entails a three day celebration of video gaming, animation, and Japanese culture held annually at the Winnipeg RBC Convention Centre. We also hold a 1 day convention in February, Winterfest, with all the excitement and main events into 12 hours.

The convention is a family friendly event suitable to all ages.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: %u2022 Brings new/convention mission-relevant content, industrial relations and organizations to the convention
%u2022 The point of contact for business and industry organizations/companies related to cosplay to secure partnership/sponsorship of cosplay contest.
o Passes information, promotional requests and graphics to the Corporate Relations Coordinator for tracking and implementation.
%u2022 Maintains professional contact with related businesses/vendors. Renews and builds on past relations in previous years.
o Requests and handles donations/sponsorships from businesses (prizes materials).
%u2022 Communicates prize requirements and ensure that does not overtax the Prize Manager.
o Responsible for trophy arrangements
%u2022 Coordinator the ingress/egress of partnership/sponsorship of businesses at the convention and ensure requests for on-site materials and resources are relayed and confirmed
%u2022 Solicits partners for advertisement exchanges and is responsible for:
o Getting logos
o On-Site promotional materials (pop up banners, posters)
o Ensuring partner promotional material is posted on the website and social media.
o Graphics for the guidebook
%u2022 Ensured that sponsored cosplay contest is streamed, recorded, tagged and posted when applicable. The AV Officer get logos for the pre-contest presentation. MC of the contest has a list and talking points for all of the businesses.
%u2022 Can be called upon to function as a Guest Liaison in the event of industry guests.
%u2022 Follow-up with overview email to partners/sponsors after the event
%u2022 Contacts groups and organizations in the cosplay community and invites them to apply for outreach tables at the conventions.
Skills Required: Candidates must have access to a vehicle or be willing to transport items via public transportation this position is required to pick and drop off department materials at times throughout the year.
Excellent writing skills are a requirement.
Experience working in the Cosplay field an asset (not required).
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Building portfolio experience in corporate relations, marketing, and customer service.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening, Weekend
Committee meetings typically occur on Sundays in the afternoon. Department meetings once a month midweek in the evening. Typically the meeting schedule is as follows: September to December - Once a month December to June - Twice a month June to July - Every week Ai-Kon: July 26-28, 2019
