Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Purpose:

The Vice-President of Community Engagement is responsible for leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to protect, maintain, and enhance Pride Winnipeg's reputation amongst the community, various partners and other key stakeholders.



Duties & Responsibilities

Strategy, Vision & Leadership:

Contributes to the development of Pride Winnipeg's strategic goals and objectives, as well as the overall management of the Organization.

Represents the Organization externally, with community partners, media and the public.

Leads the Marketing and Stakeholder Relations teams.



Division / Department Duties:

Leads and delivers multi-faceted communication programs and services to reflect Pride Winnipeg's priorities.

Creates and strengthens the relationship with a broad range of stakeholders both within the community and outside.

Seeks opportunities to collaborate on issues of common cause with other organizations and individuals.

Develops and maintains a communication strategy that strives for excellence in delivering key messages for Pride Winnipeg's programming, advocacy, and other activities through stakeholder engagement.

Acts as a spokesperson for the Organization when the President is unavailable.

Supports marketing with its adverting and promotion delivery options.



Organizational Development & Process Improvement:

Actively participates in committees and special projects as assigned by the President, or Board of Directors.

Attends professional seminars and workshops, when available.



Financial Management

Responsible for the management of the Community Engagement division budgets, as approved by the Board of Directors.

Ensures all resources (time and supplies) are used in the most effective ways possible to support the department objectives.
Skills Required: Qualifications:

The Vice-President, Community Engagement will be a seasoned leader with at least three (3) years of community experience. They will ideally have experience overseeing budgets for a nonprofit organization.



Professional:

Bachelor's degree in communications, or related field.

Minimum three years' experience in a community engagement role.

Leadership experience in developing, implementing and evaluating multi-media communications strategies, programs and plans and managing issues in a complex environment.

Experience in community engagement and relations and ability to build consensus and drive outcomes with diverse stakeholders.

Experience as a lead spokesperson responding to media inquiries and working with the press.

Experience in providing strategic advice to the most senior levels in an Organization.

Well rounded knowledge of social media, media relations, relationship management and customer satisfaction.



Personal:

Must maintain strong political awareness, judgment and sensitivity.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to write and speak French considered an asset.

Ability to establish and maintain working relationships within a diverse team.

Collaborative, flexible, with a strong service based mentality.

Ability to manage a dynamic, mission driven team.
