Organizational Description: Marlene Street Resource Centre (MSRC) is a United Way Member Agency located at #6-27 Marlene Street in the neighbourhood of St. Vital. The Centre is committed to community outreach and development for the surrounding population living in the Marlene Street Manitoba Housing Development. We offer programs and services for adults and their children.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Daytime volunteers (1:00 PM -3:00 PM)

-To assist in receiving and unloading of food from Harvest truck.
-To ensure all food is fresh and within the expiration date.
-To assist in assemble food and fresh produce kits and organize donated food in assigned bins to give away.
-To maintain orderliness of the food bank and in cleanliness.

Evening volunteers (5:00 PM -7:00 PM)

-To assist in handing out food to the people in the community.
-To assist clients, seniors and people with disabilities with transfer food and groceries from bins to their bags/carts/cars as required.
-To ensure all food bins are returned to the Centre.
-To assist in assembling food for walking-in clients.
-To assist in storing inventory of food.
Skills Required: -Pleasant, confident, persistent, non-judgmental, problem-solving and positive attitude
-Good personal hygiene, punctuality, time-management, willingness to learn new things and open to meet new people
-Ability to lift, bend and move
Skills Gained/Related Careers: -A stepping stone for your employment path/career (we provide harvest volunteers with letters of recommendations for jobs)

Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening
MSCRC food bank is a bi-monthly program i.e. every 2nd Tuesday of the month. We are looking for potential volunteers to cover two different shifts (according to their availability) Daytime: 1:00 PM -3:00 PM Evenings: 5:00 PM -3:00 PM
