Organizational Description: Friends believe in the value of literacy and learning and are committed to supporting all twenty Winnipeg Public Library branches in their service to the community. We are a volunteer charitable organization and an important partner of the Winnipeg Public Library.

We raise funds through member fees, donations and corporate support. In addition, we organize two annual events and operate a gift shop. All net proceeds go to support library projects and programs.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Friends of Winnipeg Public Library is a not-for-profit organization that works to support Winnipeg Public Library by helping to raise funds and awareness in support of library programs and services.

The Friends of Winnipeg Public Library are looking for new members to sit on its Board. Board member meet monthly (afternoons from 1- 4 p.m. last Tuesday of the month) to review operational needs of the organization, make decisions on funding expenditures and plan for programs and fundraising events.

Board meetings are in the afternoons on the last Tuesday of the month. Some evening events offered by the library provide opportunities for Board members to be involved. Board members are encouraged to assist with fundraising events that occur on weekends.
