Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The Wheels of Hope program offers rides to treatment for those people who are currently living with cancer. This volunteer role will support staff in the dispatch of volunteer drivers, entering appointments in a database, troubleshooting and providing customer service to cancer clients waiting for their ride home from treatment.

* Confirm or edit client information or enter bookings of new appointments in a database

* Provide general information to public regarding the Wheels of Hope Transportation Program

* Communicate effectively with staff, clients and volunteer drivers

* Assign rides home while considering efficient scheduling

* Using a database to record the assigned clients and volunteer drivers

* Other administrative duties as needed

* Adhere to all Canadian Cancer Society policies, procedures, standards and guidelines including client confidentiality and our 100% smoke free policy
Skills Required: * Must be comfortable working on a two-way radio, phone and computer

* Comfortable working in a database (specific training will be provided)

* Strong logistical knowledge of Winnipeg

* Excellent attention to detail

* Comfortable working with individuals experiencing health related stress

* Comfortable working in a fast pace environment

* Ability to interact with volunteers and staff in a team environment

* Previous experience working in volunteer engagement, customer or health services would be an asset

Time Commitment/Working Environment

* One day per week and minimum 6 month commitment

* Monday to Friday, office hours

* Located at 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg
