Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: We are seeking a few highly ethical, engaged volunteers to serve on our Board of Directors. Board members are responsible for maintaining the commitment to FASD Life's Journey's mission, establishing strategic direction, oversight of the operation, ensuring compliance with all applicable legal requirements, and maintaining the organization's financial well-being. Board Members are expected to participate in committee activities and attend committee meetings as required.
Skills Required: Previous board governance experience, leadership/senior management experience, stakeholder relations experience, financial accounting and/or audit skills, human resources/labour relations experience, legal/regulatory knowledge - contracts, defense and/or labour, business network contacts, advocacy skills, property management - knowledge of real estate market, government lobby/policy impacts, not-for-profit sector experience, fundraising/charitable donations experience, Indigenous community- cultural awareness/political awareness, experience/knowledge of the needs of Persons, affected by neuro-development disorders (health, social work and/or lived experience). Personal characteristics should include integrity and accountability, informed judgement, ability to provide wise, thoughtful counsel on a broad range of governance issues, mature confidence, respect for others, ability to commit the time required.

Members will be expected to attend nine meetings per year. Meetings will be approximately two hours in length.
