We are committed to providing quality services that are consumer driven and responsive. Our services consist of adaptive/adjustment services that recognize the unique needs of Deaf-Blind people. We are committed to an informed and timely process, the provision of accessible service and the recognition of the individuality and differing needs within our target population.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Picking up a Deaf-Blind person from their home and going shopping with them one on one and then dropping them back at home. Volunteers are needed at group outings as well, ex. sporting events, craft classes, going for ice cream, etc.
You will be involved in guiding the Deaf-Blind person and being their eyes and ears.
Skills Required: We require people with good communication skills, loud clear speaking voice, someone who is outgoing, has a vehicle or has access to a vehicle is needed but not fully required.
Guiding is required, being the eyes and ears of a Deaf-Blind person.

Being able to sign ASL is considered an asset but not required.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Skills gained: empathy, trust, knowledge of acquired Deaf-Blind people and the community.
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening
We are looking for people during the day between 9-4pm. Occasionally we ask if you are available in the evenings and sometimes the weekend. The length of time is between 2-4hours per shift.
