Organizational Description: Do anything, be anything, achieve everything is our mantra at Camp Quality. We are a national charitable organization devoted to providing free camp experiences and year-round programming for children with cancer.

Camp Quality Manitoba uses the facilities of Variety Camp Brereton which is situated on Brereton Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park, in the Canadian Shield. We are lake side with a swimming beach and boat dock including canoes, paddle boats and kayaks, which get used on a daily basis. Variety has developed the site each year and last year unveiled a fabulous new building to increase their indoor space for rainy days as well as many other options.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Throughout Camp Year
-Read Camp Quality's Medical Manual to understand our Medical Policies
-Read and understand CAPOC Medical Guidelines
-Read and understand any health legislation relevant to camps in your province
-Keep your certifications up to date
-Join the Camp Quality Medical Committee and take part in calls or meetings
-Be knowledgeable of campsite facilities, location of local hospitals, and ambulance/emergency services.
-Communicate with medical coordinator prior to camp to review and evaluate camper's medical forms to ensure their medical needs can be met
-Get a CQ email address and access to our online file and form storage. For privacy reasons, medical information should not be stored on an unencrypted personal computer.
-Provide for on and off-site communication (i.e., cell phones)
-Review camp program and inform the program team of any accessibility or safety concerns you may have
-Approve all standing orders prior to camp
During Camp
-To be at camp or available during camp week for medical coordinator to communicate any health issues arising of campers and staff.
-To provide a team approach to situation management at camp, by consulting with camper's parents and oncologist, as indicated.
-Treat and prescribe as indicated.

After Camp
-Submit ALL medical records (treatment records, medication administration records, incident reports) immediately to the National Office.
-Make suggestions for improvements to systems for next year's camp
Skills Required: -Current licensed to practice medicine in Manitoba, Canada
-5+ years of experience practicing medicine; preference in pediatric or oncology
-Ability to work well with others in a team environment
-Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Time Commitment:
We would like for the Camp Medical Director to meet with the Medical Coordinator prior to camp. During camp week, we would like the Medical Director to be available for the medical staff to contact with questions or asking for orders for treatment.
