Organizational Description: The 38 Service Battalion Combat Service Support Museum (CSS Museum) is a part of a registered, charitable, non-profit organization called The Service Battalion Senate, Inc. This military museum is located in Rooms 121/122 at Minto Armouries and features combat service support (logistics) related artifacts from the late 19th century to the present day. It is open Tuesday afternoons and evenings from September to the end of May annually, except for December.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The 38 Service Battalion Combat Service Support (CSS) Museum is seeking a committed volunteer with an interest in military history. This person should be prepared to participate in training to enable his/her utilization in all operational aspects of this small military museum located at Minto Armoury, 969 St. Matthews Avenue
Skills Required: Among the desirable volunteer skills would be one or more of: (a) computer database set-up and management expertise; (b) the ability to work within an existing computerized collection management system; (c) formal museum training (e.g. the AMM Certificate in Museum Practices program); (d) archival training and experience; (e) website and Facebook maintenance expertise; (f) internet research expertise; and (g) superior oral presentation and power point preparation skills.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Upon completion of training, the volunteer will be able to establish museum displays, accession artifacts, research artifacts, conserve artifacts, provide guided tours and operate basic tools safely.

Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening
The CSS Museum is open Tuesday afternoons and evenings from September to the end of May annually, except for December. The time commitment is typically a three-hour shift. Visitors tours may be requested on other days periodically throughout the year or for special occasions.
