Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: We are 100% volunteer based non-profit organization. We assist in helping to reunite lost dogs with their owner in Winnipeg including all of Manitoba.

Volunteering your time to a worthy cause is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. Not only do you get involved with your community, you meet some awesome people who share the same values and commitment as you!

We have a meeting once a month and we try to have it on the first Saturday of every month. If it's a long weekend, then we have the meeting on the following Saturday. The location of our meets are usually at a public library and can be anywhere in the city of Winnipeg.

Here are your principle responsibilities.

- PREPARING THE AGENDA. You and the president will need to collaborate before each meeting to put the agenda document together. Distribute the agenda to members before the meeting by posting in our Facebook Board Group and have copies available for every member who attends.

- RECORDING MOTIONS. Our meetings are recorded with a hand held recorder that WLDA owns. It's crucial to get the exact words of a motion from the mover, so after you've written the motion down, read it back to be sure you've got it right.

- COUNTING VOTES. The president may ask you to count votes on ballots or to serve as a second pair of eyes during standing votes.

- PREPARING THE MINUTES. This means creating a full record of what is decided in meetings, including the motions. You don't have to capture everything that is discussed or debated. Instead, your role is to record the results of the meeting's official business. Within 7 days of the last board meeting, the minutes get posted in our FB Board Group so everyone has time to go over them before our next board meeting.

- HANDLING CORRECTIONS. If members request corrections to the minutes of the previous meeting, you will be the one to make those corrections. You don't need to redistribute the corrected minutes, however. Once they've been approved at the next meeting (along with any corrections), they become a matter of record.
