Organizational Description: Our mission statement is to empower, provide support, advocacy and guidance to women who are involved in the criminal justice system. We provide services for women who are incarcerated as well as in the community at our location on Selkirk Ave. Volunteers facilitate a variety of programs, perform office maintenance duties, tutor participants in our literacy program, assist with stocking our clothing depot and participate as members of our board.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Working with a partner, volunteers will represent Elizabeth Fry Society of Manitoba Responsibilities include:

1: Maintaining a positive, professional and enthusiastic attitude towards customers accessing charity.
2: Representing the agency to all customers, including distributing information/leaflets, answering questions about our programs, and explaining how funds raised will benefit Elizabeth Fry Society of Manitoba
3: Greeting customers and providing excellent customer service, including providing general information about the bingo hall and troubleshooting equipment.
4: Assisting with creating a fun, active and welcoming environment.
5: Set-up and take down of Elizabeth Fry slide presentation on monitor
6: Completing any other duties as requested by hall staff
7: Communicate any issues/concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator at Elizabeth Fry society of Manitoba in a timely manner.
Skills Required: 1: Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and issues impacting individuals primarily women in conflict with the law an asset
2: Excellent Customer Service Skills
3: Experience in a charitable gaming facility is helpful but not essential.
4: Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills
Skills Gained/Related Careers: 1: Able to commit at least 10-20 hours a month. Attend all shifts as scheduled, and inform Volunteer Coordinator of any absence as soon as possible.
2: Be available for 2 or 4 hours shifts between the hours of 9AM-4:00 PM.
3: A minimum of a six month commitment required.
4: Access to reliable transportation (vehicle or transit).
5: Must adhere to program procedures, including dress codes.
6: Be able to attend mandatory training at Elizabeth Fry of Manitoba for specific tasks and responsibilities.
7: Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
