Organizational Description: The Mental Health Education Resource Centre contains a large lending library with many reading materials, videos, training kits, newsletters, brochures and fact sheets on mental health and related issues. Two research computers are available for searching the MHERC library and internet.

The Mental Health Education Resource Centre of Manitoba (MHERC) is a provincial resource promoting knowledge exchange operated by the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society. To promote mental health and educate about mental illness in an effort to encourage Manitobans to seek treatment early and to reduce the prejudice and discrimination that exists towards people with a mental illness.

All resources are available for loan, free of charge.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Lend and receive library books and other materials

Sort and re-shelve library books and other materials

Perform clerical activities such as manual and electronic filing, word processing, data entry and photo-copying
Assist library patrons in accessing books, videos, CD's, and other library resources

Perform manual and online reference searches

Provide general library information to patrons
Skills Required: *MUST be able to work alone*

Honest, punctual and reliable

Ability to multi-task and work efficiently

Comfortable working with computers
Enjoy dealing with the public

Sensitive to consumer's needs and mental health related issues

Willingness to independently create new tasks that will benefit MHERC

Pleasant and friendly

Willing to work evening shift if necessary

Keep CONFIDENTIALITY in MHERC

Age: 17 and under, 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Evening
One shift a week. Every Wednesday evening 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM
