Organizational Description: The Winnipeg School Division operates an Adult EAL program that is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada to provide an opportunity, within a multicultural environment, for adult students to develop a facility in the English language and an understanding of Canadian Society.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: The WSD Adult EAL, located at 275 Portage Avenue, is looking for volunteers to assist students in class during the fall and winter of 2018/2019.

Duties include leading conversational groups, reading exercises, and other English learning activities.
Skills Required: Experience working with students, and good command of the English language, are a requirement.

Additional language(s) spoken (including Arabic, Tigrigna, Somali, or French) is an asset.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: EAL teacher, group facilitation skills, instructional skills, good verbal and written communication skills.
Age: 17 and under, 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening
Once a week, for a minimum of two months, starting in or after September, 2018. Our class schedules are: - 9:15 AM to 12:15 AM; - 12:45 PM to 3:45 PM; - 5:15 PM to 7:17 PM; - 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
