Organizational Description: Ai-Kon is a registered non-profit organization that hosts Manitoba's premier and largest anime convention. It is also one of the largest conventions of its kind in Western Canada.

Our main event entails a three day celebration of video gaming, animation, and Japanese culture held annually at the Winnipeg RBC Convention Centre. We also hold a 1 day convention in February, Winterfest, with all the excitement and main events into 12 hours.

The convention is a family friendly event suitable to all ages.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: - Works with the Video Game Coordinator to:
Develop sponsored video game tournaments and events.
Develop award systems for each event that does not overtax the Prize Manager.
Bring rare/new/convention mission relevant content, industrial relations and applicable organizations to the convention.
- Acts as the external point of contact for video game business, related entertainment venues and industry organizations/companies to secure partnership/sponsorship of Ai-Kon video gaming events and tournaments. Passes required information, promotional requests and graphics to the Corporate Relations Coordinator for tracking and implementation.
- Maintains professional contact with related businesses/vendors. Renews and builds on past relations in previous years.
Works to expand and obtain new partnership/sponsorship that support Ai-Kon's mandate
Requests and handles donations/sponsorship from businesses (prizes materials).
- Solicits mission appropriate partners for advertisement exchanges. Gathers required information and graphics to convey to Corporate Relations Coordinator to track and implement. Such information includes :
Getting logos
On-Site promotional materials (pop up banners, posters)
Ensuring partner promotional material is posted on website and social media.

- Ensured that sponsored tournaments are streamed, recorded, tagged and posted when applicable.
- Fulfills all general duties of a Corporate Relations Assistant

- Works with the Corporate Relations Coordinator to ensure that sponsorship and partnership are advertised in accordance with the approved advertising campaign
- Ensures partnerships, company agreements, and trade agreements are completed and properly documented.
- Provides on-site promotional support for sponsored events including seat filling and working with the promotions and applicable staff member to generating buzz at the event.
- Canvasses related sponsors, partnered businesses and industrial contacts for materials for the registration bags.
- Assists with the canvasses local business or other business as requested for materials for the registration bags and discounts for attendees during the event.
Skills Required: - High School graduation or an equivalent combination of training and experience.- - Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills; must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships, be flexible, and work efficiently in a team environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, change focus quickly, and exercise sound judgment in stressful situations.
- Candidates must have a vehicle to be able to pick and drop off donations/ trades/promotional materials at times throughout the year.
- Excellent writing skills are a requirement.
- Previous sales, public relations, marketing or external outreach experiences an asset.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Ability to build portfolio in Corporate Relations and Marketing industry.

Time Commitment: Evening, Weekend
Typically, occur on Sundays in the afternoon.
