Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Serving on a Policy Board governing Senior Citizen Housing .

- Reading Documents in relation to Property Management for example: minutes, by-laws, reports, tenders for renovations; and
- Attending meetings to discuss issues, finances and to make informed decisions in the best interests of the corporation.
Skills Required: - Openness to working on behalf of people in affordable housing;
- Ability to read property management documents and financial statements;
- ability to discuss issues with staff and directors;
- Knowledge of housing issues: finances, leasing, maintenance, renovations, and future trends; and
- Email user.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: - Knowledge of non-profit housing boards, reading of financial statements, legal documents, maintenance reports and knowledge of affordable housing programs.
- Experiencing first-hand the importance of charitable work or non-profit work.
Age: 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime
- 90 minute meetings, held quarterly; - reading preparation time
