Volunteer Opportunity Details
Description of Duties: Responsible for the safe portering of residents. Portering consists of transporting (pushing) residents in wheelchairs or escorting residents using walkers or canes to various in-house appointments and/or spiritual or recreational activities.
Skills Required: - Ability to push a wheelchair (training provided)
- Friendly, personable, patient and compassionate
- Discrete
- Ability to converse in English (French bi-lingual an asset)
- Experience in working with the elderly and/or people with disabilities is considered an asset.
Skills Gained/Related Careers: Require Police Record Check
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime, Evening, Weekend
Minimum 14 years of age. Hours needed: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Mon, Wed, Fri) 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM (Tue & Thu) 1:00 PM - 3 PM (Mon) 6:15 PM - 8:15 PM (Wed only) 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM (Sundays)
