TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

Volunteer Manitoba's Training and Development Program offers its courses into three Signature Series: Board Leadership, Volunteer Management, and Organization Management. Customized workshops are now offered within organizations, and Volunteer Manitoba is continually expanding across Manitoba with it’s workshops and special seminars.

VOLUNTEER REFERRAL SERVICE

Our Volunteer Referral Service acts as supply source for volunteers for agencies and organizations and as a Referral Service for prospective volunteers seeking opportunities for community involvement. Weekly postings on our website and in the media, along with the opportunity to meet with our Referral Coordinator are some of the important services provided.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

Contact Community Information
CONTACT Community Information was established in a response to a stated need for an information and referral service in the city. Today CONTACT operates a computerized information and referral network that serves the entire province.
Resource Centre
Our Resource Library offers a selection of approximately 5,000 books, periodicals and audio visuals containing information specific to the voluntary sector including a major addition of publications contributed by the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy in 1986. In 2002, the Manitoba Voluntary Sector Initiative Research Collection has become an important component of the holdings of the Resource Centre with more than 600 catalogued print materials, international in scope, pertaining to the relationship of the voluntary sector with government, business, and labour.

VOLUNTEER AWARDS DINNER

Each year, during National Volunteer Week, Volunteer Manitoba holds a Volunteer Awards Dinner. The Lieutenant Governor's 'Make a Difference Community Award' and 'Vice-Regal Volunteer Award', the Premier's ' Volunteer Service Awards', the Mayor's 'Volunteer Service Award', the RBC Financial Group's 'Local Hero Award', the MTS Pioneers 'Business Award', the 'Golden Hand Award for Media', and Volunteer Manitoba's 'Award for Outstanding Community Leadership' have become a focal point of the Volunteer Week Awards Ceremony coordinated by Volunteer Manitoba for over 20 years.

Today Volunteer Manitoba promotes the concept of voluntarism throughout the province. Its programs are designed with this goal as well as the need to sustain through capacity building, the Voluntary Sector in Manitoba.
