(1 ½ - 3 hour workshop) This interactive seminar builds on your existing program and helps you define your fundraising needs. "Beyond Chocolate Bars" will help you evaluate your current fundraising strategies and help you develop ways to raise funds more effectively...and in less time and energy. Designed for Boards, Management and volunteers and all those that make fund raising decisions.
Bookkeeping Basics for Non-Profits
(3 hour workshop) Designed especially for those who know little about accounting, this session will introduce you to the basics of setting up an effective bookkeeping system for your non-profit. Become familiar with accounting vocabulary and bookkeeping basics; Learn the importance of records, processes and the timely recognition of revenue and expenses; Receive an overview of double-entry bookkeeping, the bank reconciliation process and the
preparation of financial statements.

3 hour workshop) – There are several activities in the yearly accounting cycle but two are crucial in the not for profit organization, budgeting and cash management.· Learn how to prepare budgets (annual operating, capital or proposal); How to use the budget to monitor the organization through deviation analysis; Discover the basics to cash flow management; Develop techniques for improving cash flow; Prepare projections and forecasts.
Conflict in a Female Dominated Workplace
(6 hour workshop) – Learn how women perceive conflict and why it is so different from men. Discuss how these perceptions lead to different behaviours and the implications when managing these groups. Explore ways to defuse conflict and practice appropriate resolution techniques to arrive at solutions.

Effective Community Fundraising (for smaller, rural communities)
(3 hour workshop) – Community organizations are being encouraged to manage their resources more effectively in order to ensure long-term viability. Fundraising has become an integral component in this process and is arguably the most important task community organizations must involve themselves with. From bake sales and auctions to raffles and ticket sales community groups have done it all when it comes to raising funds. An integrated approach to fundraising is essential for organizations to thrive and survive. Participate in this workshop and learn how to evaluate your fundraising ideas to ensure the outcome is worth the effort. Hear examples of successful fundraising strategies and come prepared to share your fundraising success stories with others. Effective Communication (for smaller, rural communities)
(3 hour workshop) – Effective Communication in organizations is a must – organizations that value their volunteers input and share communications messages in a positive two-way strategy will create win/win situations for all involved. Communication and information are an important DO to building successful organizations that build positive strong communities. This workshop will address the role of communication with all involved in organizations, knowing that conflict can be constructive rather than destructive, listening, feeling safe to share ideas, knowledge and experiences, asking questions and finally to an understanding of their role as a member of the organization. Effective Proposal Writing
(6 hour workshop) – A one-day workshop to examine strategies and develop effective techniques for writing successful proposals for organizational funding or project support. Take an inspiring and informative look at what makes a winning proposal. Learn more about funders, what they are looking for and how they select winning proposals. Learn how to lay-out and write a credible, easy to read proposal that meets your funders' needs.
To Tweet or Not to Tweet? Understanding When Using Social Media Makes Sense for Your Organization
(6 hour workshop) – How many times have you been asked, “Are you on Facebook?” Do you wonder what the fuss is all about with Twitter? Do you experience tweet guilt because you don’t even know what it is? Has your board or staff been wondering out loud about whether or not your organization should create a Facebook page or blog, or start tweeting about…well, what exactly? Social media is pervasive. Since 2007 adoption rates of social media platforms by businesses and organizations across every sector has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2007, approximately 40% of Inc. 500 companies were using no form of social media. Today that number is less than 10%. It is a communication vehicle you can no longer afford to ignore.
Brand, What Brand?
(6 hour workshop) – Whether you know it or not your organization has a brand. Think of it as the things people say about you when you’re not in the room. So you need to be in command, as much as possible, of what words they use to describe you. Having a strong brand is about creating the stories that are told about what you do and how you do it differently than others. Brand management is about understanding and effectively communicating your authentic and compelling brand promise. Your brand strategy is central to your business strategy. (6 hour workshop) This day-long workshop is delivered in three sections: Concepts and trends in leadership thinking; How to lead from the meeting table; How to lead from the podium.
Making The News: Media Relations for Non-Profits
(6 hour workshop) – Through this workshop, veteran communicator John Longhurst will help you learn how to get the media's attention, know what reporters are looking for in a story, and provide practical information about how to write a press release, when to send it and who to send it to. He'll also offer tips about being interviewed, how to hold a news conference, what to do when a crisis occurs, and other media strategies.

(6 hour workshop) – Create your own marketing plans with media, learn to manage media and public speaking requests with confidence. Take away your own Marketing Manager in a Box.
Media Kit for Non-Profits
(6 hour workshop) – Prepare and organize media interviews, understand what is “newsworthy”, develop targeted media list, organize media-friendly events, etc.
New Income Tax Issues Affecting Charities

(2 hour workshop) - Learn the recent changes and proposed amendments to the Income Tax Act and the implications they have for fundraising, receipting, disbursement quotas, audits and sanctions.

Proposal Review Service - Level II
Have your proposal reviewed and critiqued by an independent professional. Includes a written critique and 1/2 hour personal session with the consultant. Your proposal will be critiqued on:
- how well you meet your funder’s requirements,
- how clearly and succinctly you describe your idea and the benefits,
- how accurately your budget reflects your expenses,
- how effectively your proposal is formated and writen for an overall positive impression.
Securing Major Donors
(3 hour workshop) – Learn strategies to identify, cultivate, and build solid relationships with prospective donors. Learn how and what to ask for in order to secure and maintain long-term donors.

(2 hour workshop) – This workshop introduces you to the not-for-profit sector, terminology, potential partners, potential competitors, and the different forms of not-for-profits. You will leave with a better understanding of what you want to accomplish and the best way to do this.

(6 hour workshop) - This session will share a number of success factors and best practices that can help non-profit organizations and funders to position themselves for planning successful projects that achieve realistic goals and objectives within a set budget and defined timeframe. (6 hour workshop) - The hallmark of a great leader is one who sets his or her successors up for success, rather than failure. Succession Planning processes are proving crucial for the long-term success of non-profit organizations. Through such processes, they can ensure sustainable availability of top talent to meet changing demands and circumstance. Effective processes ensure appropriate recruitment and volunteer development as well as support organizational change. In order to be positioned for continued success, organizations must have short and long-term strategies for developing succession plans for vacating employees or volunteers to be optimally effective now and in the future. This workshop will assist employees and volunteer boards to design a succession planning process that will fit the unique needs of the organization.
