Succession Planning Through Leadership Activities

Succession Planning or Continuity Management provides the board with effective methods of enlisting and retaining effective board members. The board must determine what skills and expertise it needs and how to recruit people with these skills. Learn how to involve executive members as a “Leadership Team” who provides professional development that encourages active involvement and retention of board members.

Content:
1. Incorporating Succession Planning and Continuity Management,
2. Contingency and Succession Planning for the Executive Director,
3. Using By-Laws and Board Policy to maintain continuity,
4. A new role for the “Nominating Committee”,
5. Recruitment through the use of “Ad-Hoc” committees,
6. Making decisions on Board Representation,
7. Engaging all Board Members through active involvement.
