Keeping Top Performers

Employee Retention -- How to Motivate and Develop Your Top Performers.

With a host of new challenges and responsibilities to tackle, supervisors need training like never before. Learning how to supervise new employees with little or no HR experience can lead to discouragement. Through interactive discussions, group work and exercises, this workshop will help teach participants how to retain and develop staff and volunteers over the long term.

Specific learning objectives include:
Recognize the responsibilities you have as a supervisor -- to yourself, your team, and your organization.
Acquire a basic understanding of leadership, team building, communication, and motivation, and what part they play in employee retention.
Develop strategies for motivating your team, giving constructive feedback, and resolving conflict.

Understanding Your Employees
Employees who feel a connection to their manager are often highly productive and engaged in their work.  Having a greater understanding of the dynamics of their work relationship will result in a more productive and positive working relationship

Trust
Participants will discuss why trust is so important in a work environment, and how to build trust.

Communication
Participants will discuss what communication is, what can be a barrier to communication, how to engage in active listening, and how to ask effective questions.

Motivation
Participants will talk about different approaches to motivation.

Giving and Receiving Feedback
Giving feedback is one of the most important management tasks, yet many people find it a tricky area. This session will give participants some tools that they can use.

Dealing with Conflict
This session will provide participants with ways to resolve conflict.

Performance Management
Performance management is a crucial part of helping an employee grow. During this session, we will explore the performance management process.
