Conflict Management Strategies

Conflict is inevitable and it can make organizations stronger or weaker, depending on how it is handled. Explore practical ways to deal with workplace conflicts and practice techniques to keep conflict from escalating.

Since women make up over 70% of the workforce in the non-profit sector, special attention will be paid to female workgroup dynamics and relational aggression. Based on research, women interact with and expect different things from their co-workers than men, which results in a completely different approach to dealing with conflict.

Participants will learn:
- The benefits and disadvantages of conflict plus environmental factors that contribute to conflict.
-
A variety of communication techniques proven to be effective when trying to defuse conflict.
-
The different conflict management styles and when it is appropriate to use each style.
- How women perceive conflict; their common beliefs and assumptions.
- Common behaviours that women exhibit when in conflict with other women.
- Effective strategies for dealing with conflict involving females.

Executive Directors, Board members, managers, supervisors, staff and volunteers who are dealing with conflict in their workplace or organization.
